What happens my Food Waste?

When we collect the contents of your food waste bin they are taken to our dedicated composting plant in where it is specially treated and turned into high quality compost. This can be used on gardens, in landscaping projects and on fields.



How will I know how much is in my account?

 You can check the balance of your card online here when you login or else on the mobile app on your phone. You will also recieve a text 2 days before your collection informing you of your balance. 

If you have recently changed your number or address please call us to change your details! 

 



Why Pay by Weight?
To promote better segregation of waste and lead to a decrease in the amount of household waste going to landfill. Pay by weight allows you to manage the cost of your collection service. The more you recycle the less you pay for your waste.

What is Pay By Weight?

Bye Laws require every household in the county to register with a permitted waste collection provider. The charging method for Waste collection must be based on the weight of waste collected. You therefore only pay for the amount of waste you generate.



How much does it Cost?

 In line with EU Regulations, the Pay be Weight  is being introduced.

  • Waste bin-21c per Kg
  • Recycling bin-11c per Kg
  • Food Waste Caddy-16c per Kg

Customers must have a minimum of €30 in their Waste account.

Why Do I have to Pay a Service Charge?

You pay a service charge of €12 per month. This service charge ensures that a collection truck passes your home on a fortnightly basis to check if you have bins left out for collection.



Why does my top-up card have to be topped up by €30?

To cover your €12 service charge per month ( €3.00 per week ) 

To cover for excess weight in bins where households do not recycle efficiently. 

 



How do I top up online?

Press the tab Top-Up Online.

Enter your Account Number and Password then Press Submit.

If you have no password, press the link "Register to Use Web Access.

If you forgot your password, press the link "Forgot Password?"



How do I top up in the Shop?
Go to your local store 24 hours before your bin collection day and present your card. Let the shop assistant do the rest.

Why was my bin not collected even though I topped up my card?
I did not top up my card on time before my bin collection day.

What is not allowed in my General Waste bin?

 Paint Cans, IT Equipment, Electrical Goods, Battries, Glass



What Can I put in my General Waste bin?

 Nappies, Ashes (must be cooled and tied in a bag), Tin Foil, Aeroboard, Contaminated & Wet Paper



What can I put into my recycling bin?

Newspapers & Magazines,Paper & Cardboard, Aluminium & Tin Cans,Tetra Packs,Plastic Bottles



What is not allowed in my Recycling bin?

Sanitary Waste, Nappies, Foil, Polystyrene, Contaminated Food, Batteries, Clothing & Shoes, Aeroboard/Foam, Hazardous Materials



Why should I recycle Food Waste?

 It saves you money. Food Waste is a valuable resource. Using the food waste recycling service diverts this waste from the landfill,allows it to be recycled and turned into valuable resources such as agricultural fertilisers and energy.



What can I put in my Food/Organic Waste bin?

Compostable bags, Cooked/Raw Food, Cut flowers/House Plants, Leftovers, Fruit & Veg peelings, Meat/bones, Egg shells/tea bags, Newspapers,Bread, Confectionary,Cheese, Coffee Grounds, Dairy Products,Fat, Fish, Yogurt, Pasta/Rice/Noodles,Sauces/Preserves/Jams, Wooden Wine Corks & Popisicle Sticks & Paper Towels/Napkins



What is not allowed in my Food/Organic Waste bin?

Garden Waste/Weeds Plastic Bags, Pet Waste/bedding, Plastic,Glass, Metal including tin foil, Textiles, Coal Ashes, Cigarettes/Cigars, Cigarettes Ashes, Medical Waste, Rocks/Bricks & Gravel, Paint, Motor Oil/Petro/Diesel, Q-tips



How does the truck weigh the bin?

Your bin is registered with the weighing system on the truck. The bin gets weighed on the way up and down and your net weight is the difference between the two.



What time do I leave my bins out?

We request that you leave your bins out on the pavement the night before collection



Why was my recycling bin not collected?

There was mixed waste inside my recycling bin. Solution: Remove Waste from Recycling Bin.
